0.1 STORY OF GAME

I started work on this game in late October 96. It started out
nameless, but after long hour of thinking I came up with ARM of the
BLUE Griffin. This was the name of the game throughout all of November.
But, the color blue got criticism. So, I changed the color of the
Griffin to GOLD, people have killed and been killed for gold. I ended
up changing the name in the near end of programming.
I spent long hours working on the theory of the game, on paper. I
spent nearly three (3) weeks working on paper. Then the time came for the
programming. The painstaking task of programming this sucker took about
four (4) weeks strait (actually worked 5 weeks on it, took a week break).
Then came the BETA's.
My first BETA was crap, like usual. I forgot to include files and
stuff. BETA 2 was okay. Then I started get comments and suggestions
(which of course are still welcome). In the matter of 2 days, I had half
a page of suggestions, and a week I had a full page.
The Christmas holiday really slowed me down, I didn't work on the
game for about two weeks. All I really needed to do at that time is to
write this . But, one weeked, I sat down and, well, started typing.
And thats pretty much the nutshell of the game.

1.0 STARTING THE GAME

Making your character in AGG is just like most other games, you
select a name, a race, and a class. The races and classes are
explained in detail later.
Your race selection will determine what realm you are at. If you
select Human, Half Elf, or Dwarf you will be in the Light Realm. If you
choose Goblin, Troll, Orc or Mutant you will be in the Dark Realm.
NOTE: All commands are hot keyed in the game, meaning you just press the
key and it does the command, you do not have to press or .
Your class will determine your roll in the realm. You have three
choices: Warrior, Merchant, and Thief. In some cases, you will be able to
become the KING of the realm! This is only at the beginning of the game
when the realm that your character lives in does not have a king. There
are other classes besides these 4, there is also Knight, and General, and
GOD. You must achieive these specialy though, will be explained later.

2.0 MAIN MENU

         (--------------------------------------------------------)

                               (Q)uit to BBS

         (--------------------------------------------------------)

This is an example of a main menu. The "Kingdom Info" may be replaced
"Knights Castle" or "King's Palace" depending on your class. Section
2.x.x will try to explain all of these areas. So, naturaly, we'll start
with the Armory.

2.0.1 THE ARMORY

The armory is the place where you buy your armor, duh. You must first
sell the armor you already have (per specific body part). When you list
the armors, you will see some in red, and others in gray, the ones in gray
you can buy. The ones listed in red are the ones that are too expensive
for you. Naturaly, the more armor you have, the more protection.

2.0.2 THE FOREST

The forest is one of the most important places in the game. This is
where you build your muscles to kick some a$$. In the forest you will
find animals that are the same strength as you, and you will battle to the
death. If you win, you will receive experience, money, and have to pay
taxes :(. The SYSOP decides how many forest fights you get per day, (only
if she/he registers AGG).

2.0.3 THE GODS

The gods are the supream beings in AGG. You can also become one!
Yes, but more on that later. When you feal that you are strong enough
(have enough experience), you can be trained by the gods. Each god
trains you differently, and in different subjects. I will not tell what
each one does, experiment, you can even look them up in a encylopedia
because they are the REAL Greek and Roman gods. It does not cost anything
to be trained.

2.0.4 THE HEALER'S SHOP

This shop is run by my friend Dr. Zeus. This is intended to be a
little joke. The healer shop is an important place, this is where, well,
you get healed after a long battle. The price of healing is $1 per
hitpoint, and it does NOT change with your level.

2.0.5 OTHER SHOPS

This is a unique feature to AGG. All of the buildings here have been
constructed by the king. She/he has ordered, and paid, for the building
of these shops. Some are not on the list, cause you can't go to them. I
will not explain what each one does, you will have to find out yourself.
At the moment, building cannot be destroyed.

2.0.6 WEAPONS SHOP

This is just like the armory (See 2.0.1) except that it deals with
only weapons. You must sell the weapon you have to carry another.

2.0.7 LEAVE MAIL

This will allow you to enter a 3 line message to whom ever you want.
They will recieve this message before they arrive at the main menu next
time they play. You will be prompted to enter the users name, or parts of
name, and it will ask you if you want to send to that person or not. Then
you enter your message, it is 3 lines long. If it is only 1 line, then
just press enter twice to send.

2.0.8 THE MOUNTAIN

The mountain is just like the forest, except that only Griffin's live
there. Each Griffin has a different color that indicates the strength.
The GOLD Griffin can only be reached by GODs, because it lives at the very
top of the mountain where no mortal can go.

2.0.9 THE NEWSPAPER

This is just a small list of today's "great" happenings. New players,
revolts and other happenings are recorded here. The newpaper is erased
every day when the events are run.

2.1.0 PLAYERS

This lists all the players in the game. Plus you can attack them if
you have a player fight left.

2.1.1 STATUS

This simply displays your status. Everything on it is current, and
should be correct. Thats about all here.

2.1.2 KINGDOM INFO

This will give you info on the kingdom/realm you are currently in.
You can also opt to search for rebels so you can over throw the king. You
can and should also contribute to the realms treasury.

2.1.3 KNIGHT'S CASTLE

When a king builds a castle for one of his knights, the knight can set
a tax rate on the serfs she/he controlls. Then the serfs pay taxes to the
knight, and the knight then pays taxes to the king.

2.1.4 KING'S PALACE

This is the powerhouse of the king. This is where he gets to make ALL
the decisions about the kingdom. Only the few get to see it here. The
king controlls the taxes, courts, construction, and army from his palace.
Its not a good thing to get on the wrong side of the king.

2.1.5 QUITTING THE GAME

Hmm, this is a tuffy. When you want to quit the game, do this
command, then confirm your quit request, then POOF you're magicaly back
to the BBS.

3.0 RACES

    The races are as followed:

                   KEY
      Str=Strength       Cha=Charisma
      Int=Inteligence    Lea=Leadership
      Agi=Agility        Luc=Luck

Race Str Int Agi Cha Lea Luc

      Dwarf 8 5 4 5 7 4
      Elf 6 8 8 7 6 7
      Goblin 6 2 9 2 2 8
      Half Elf 6 6 7 7 8 5
      Human 7 6 6 6 7 6
      Mutant 9 1 4 1 2 9
      Orc 7 6 4 5 9 7
      Troll 8 1 5 2 4 4

Some races look like they have an advantage, but they are all pretty
much equal.

4.0 CLASSES

The class descriptions are as followed:

Warrior: Fighter, Great Leaders, Strong, Not Too Smart.

Merchant: Agile, Smart, Good Leaders, Lucky.

Thief: Agile, Very Smart, Bad Leaders, Very Lucky.

        * Knights: Awesome Leaders, Smart, Agile, Strong.

        * Generals: Supream Leaders, Extreamly Smart, Strong, Charismatic.

& King: Smart, The BEST Leaders, Strong, Extreamly Lucky.

@ GODS: The BEST at everything!!!

Like the races, some may have good and bad points, but they are all
nearly equal to each other. There have been cases where a Merchant kicks
a Warriors butt.

NOTE: The paragraph above implies to the first three races, as you
can see, the last four classes are the best.

    * = This class is appointed to a character by the king, and only the
        king.
& = There can only be one of this class per realm. The king is chosen
at the begining when you select your character class, if and only
if there is not another king in the realm.
@ = Gods are appointed only by the church (a building the king must
supply). Once you become a god, you may train others in their
quest. Plus you can fight the GOLD Griffin.

5.0 EXPERIENCE TYPES

There are two types of experience. Normal, this is given for
defeating a animal/player/griffin in battle. You need Normal experience
to level up by training with the gods. The other type of experience is
Divine. Divine experience is the rating of how well you rank with the
gods. Once you gather enough Divine Experience, you can become a god!
